Anecdotes

2 quick stories that may amuse:

1) On Sunday I was at the big market which happens every 5 days.  As I was walking, 2 kids ran up yelling "laowei!" meaning "foreigner".  I responded in Chinese "I'm not a foreigner! You are a foreigner!" THey both stopped running and just stared at me.  Their mom laughed really hard and I continued on.

2) Having lunch in the cafeteria I was with my Chinese friend who asked what one of the dished is called in English.  I told him it's not a dish we have so I don't know.  He looked it up on his electronic translator because his English is not very good.  He showed me the answer obviously expecting it to be an actual dish.  The translator read: "round mass of food".  Yummy!
